AED 101

An Automated External Defibrillatoris a little, cartable tool that evaluates the heart’s rhythm for any irregularities and, if necessary , instructs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the heart of an SCA victim .  This jolt, termed defibrillation, may allow the heart to return to a normal rhythm .

An AED puts forth  voice prompts to advise   the rescuer . As soon as the equipment is started up , the trained help will be advised to apply the 2 pads provided with the AED to the sufferer’s chest. As soon as they are in position, the Automated External Defibrillator will start to monitor the victim’s heart rhythm.  If a “shockable” rhythm is discovered , the AED will charge itself and instruct the trained help to steer clear of the victim and to push the shock button.

An AED is designed to tell rescuers exactly what needs to be done, using   voice and visual prompts . trained help put  sticky electrode pads on the victim’s chest. Through these electrodes, the Automated External Defibrillator is designed to automatically determine the electrical activity of the heart to decide if a “shockable” rhythm exists.
