Power Of Help

I really haven’t much had time to write on my weblog half as much as I would’ve liked, because of the fact that I have been dealing with my pops with his wet & wild midlife crisis. Well, some would argue it’s not as far out as it could be. The thing is, what he did was he got all done up like fonzie, and storm over to my place and casually inform me, in his hippest tone of voice: “Put some shades on, son, we’re out shopping for some classic Ford Mustangs. That’s right, brother, it’s about time I make this thing happen.”

So next him and me were off to a few of those crazy classic car lots that I’m mostly convinced are not exactly legit, and I witness this wild old guy wrote a check without even stopping to think, for an alarmingly gleaming classic Ford Mustang. I have to admit, it’s an intense machine. It sounded great too.

There’s a reason why I wrote about that sound in a past tense. It had a great sound right up to the point that it became silent. Dad tells me that it’s a really easy problem and that all he requires is the right part. Only thing is, it’s not as straightforward to come across 1967 Mustang parts as it was about 30 years ago, but he tells me there is a pretty nice-sized availability for them regardless. As far as my Dad tells me the nicest way to buy parts for classic Mustangs is through online auctions, because you can get them rebuilt and sometimes as good as new. Not necessarily cheap, though… Come on, man, these are half-century old Mustang parts.

Not the worst midlife crisis ever, I guess. It would’ve been worse if he’d bought a harley.
